About The On-Line Book Club
The book club is fairly simple. This is a free service. You and your children can sign up. We select books where the main characters are African-American. Books are grouped by gender and age. For example, the boys from Kindergarten to 2nd grade will generally read different books from the 3rd to 5th grade girls. The selected books cover a range of fiction, non-fiction, historical, and pop-culture. Some months, we will offer more than one title per group.
Parents, you will have a recommended book to read also. Parents' book selections will pertain to improving various aspects of our children's lives. A blog site has been setup for parents to blog with other parents about the selected books.
Once you sign up for the book club, you will receive an email at the beginning of each month to alert you of the monthly selections. You choose which books you will read for the month and decide how you want to obtain the books. You can get the books from the library, purchase them on your own, or we provide links for you to shop online for the best deal. After a week's time, you and your children will have access to the blogging area to discuss the books with others. At the end of the month, the next book will be selected, and we do it all over again.
